Sat Apr 18 19:19:45 CEST 2020 Timsen

The KNRM volunteers from Den Helder pick up a sick crew member of the 'Liberta' on April 18, 2020. The man needed medical assistance, and the Coastguard requested a medevac. The ship shifted its course to meet the lifeboat. After about 30 miles of sailing, the patient who was dressed corona proof was taken aboard the lifeboat over the pilot ladder. After arriving in Den Helder, the man was transferred to paramedics to be taken to the hospital. The ship continued its voyage from Edinburgh to Harlingen. Cargo ship saved two French yachtsmen

Wed Feb 01 09:36:02 CET 2017 Timsen

On Jan 30, 2017 at 4:19 p.m. CROSS Gris Nez was contacted by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) of Cape Verde, which reported a French sailboat in difficulty with two people on board on their way to Las Palmas, Canary Islands. The "Focus", a 12.50 meter sailboat registered in Cherbourg, was 500 nautical miles west of Cape Verde. She suffered strong water ingress and asked for assistance. The CROSS transmitted a Mayday relay to vessels cin the vicinity and asked them to assist the "Focus". In addition, the CROSS sent the Falcon 50 of the Navy Base in Dakar which took off at 11:12 p.m. from Dakar and arrived in the zone at 03:18 a.m. on Jan 31 after a technical stop in Cape Verde to refuel. In the meantime, the CROSS made contact with the "Liberta", which diverted to the "Focus". Upon arrival in the area, the Falcon 50 made contact with both the "Focus" and the "Liberta". The skipper of the sailboat reports that the water ingress was under control but maintained its request for assistance. The Falcon 50 guided the Liberta towards the sailboat, ensured that the "Liberta" and the "Focus" are in contact and left the area at 04:27 a.m. The "Liberta" reached the sailboat in the middle of the day and evacuated the two French yachtsmen safely.
