Grounding on the Elbe
In the afternoon of Mar 3, 2014, the "Jonni Ritscher" ran aground on the Elbe at Oevelgönne while changing berths. The traffic control was alerted at 4 p.m. Two police boats secured the grounding site. The vessel, which had come from Rotterdam on Mar 2, refloated with own power short time later and docked at Steinwerder 1-3 ex UCT where it was detained for inspection. At 10.15 p.m. the vessel sailed again being bound for Muuga with an ETA of Mar 5, 7 p.m. The police launched an investigation and secured the relevant data.
14 workers poisoned aboard the Jonni Ritscher
On Feb 6, 2013, 14 workers of the HHLA were poisonde by gas aboard the "Jonni Ritscher" which was berthed at the Burchard Quay in Hamburg, and were treated in hospital. All of them were meanwhile released. During unloading works aboard the ship which had come from Rotterdam on Feb 5 workers suddenly felt nausea, eye- and respiratory irritation. The fire brigade was alerted and cordoned off a safety zone of 150 meters before starting with measurement work. An emergency physician treated the injured, who were then taken to hospitals with ambulances. The measurements of the fire department are now analyzed, results can be expected in the early evening. According to initial investigations, the injuries could have come from fumes of bunker fuel. The heavy oil was pumped aboard in St. Petersburg where the ship had been from Jan 27-28.
