Icebreaker to escort freighter into Owen Sound harbour Saturday
A third Algoma Central Corp. lake freighter is expected to arrive in the Owen Sound Harbour Saturday morning and spend the rest of the winter moored at the port. The 50-year-old John D. Leitch vessel is scheduled to be escorted into the harbour by the Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker Samuel Risley, according to Fisheries and Oceans Canada. The agency issued a notice and public warning Thursday about the icebreaker's planned activity near and in Owen Sound. Two other Algoma ships, the Algoway and Algoma Olympic, have been in the harbour for several weeks. http://www.owensoundsuntimes.com/2017/01/12/icebreaker-to-escort-freighter-into-owen-sound-harbour-saturday
