Danger of grounding after power failure
On Oct 28, 2011, at 4:24 a.m. the Rescue Coordination Centre in Southern Norway received a message that the "Johan Hjort" with 25 men on board was in danger of running aground off the island Alden outside Askvoll after having suffered a power failure and losing all engine power. The ship was only 250 meters from the shore when the crew was able to drop the anchor. Two Norwegian frigates, the "Thor Heyerdahl" and "Helge Ingstad," enroute to Håkonsvern, were only half an hour away and immediately proceeded towards the distressed research vessel. The "Thor Heyerdahl" started towing the ship to Bergen in the morning. Norwegian report with photos: http://www.nrk.no/nyheter/distrikt/nrk_sogn_og_fjordane/1.7852914
