Cargo ship sank ore carrier
The "Wan Li 8" and the cargo m/v "Heng Run" were in collisio on July 13, 2015, at 12.15 a.m. in position 30 14N 122 38E, about 25 miles northeast of Zhoushan and 80 m ilessoutheast of Shanghai. The "Heng Run" sank within a few minutes. The Zhejiang Maritime Rescue Department sent three ships for the rescue operation and also requested help from the local navy after receiving a distress call from the "Wan Li 8", which had released lifeboats for the crew onboard Heng Run. The rescue department team rescued seven sailors and local navy rescued five crew members, while a further crew member was found dead. Another crew member swam to nearby Huangxing Island and survived, while one remained missing. By the evening 14 crew members were rescued, one of them died. The "Heng Run" was en route from Vietnam to South Korea with a cargo of 5000 tons iron ore, the "Wan Li 8" with a cargo of 3700 tons of steel was en route from Zhangjiagang to Kaohsiung.
