Catamaran flooded off Águilas
On Mar 3, 2017, at 6.15 p.m. the "Jesseas II" had lost its rig and suffered water ingress off Águilas with the starboard side hull becoming submerged and the cabin flooded eight miles off Garrucha. The crew of five had the liferaft ready to abandon ship in adverse weather with wave heights of upt to four meters and wind forces of eight Beaufort. The helicopter Helimer 219 was deployed by the MRCC in Alermía. It took the crew off and transferred them to the airport of Almería. An ambulance was ready at the airport and a crew member who suffered an ear injury in the accident was treated on site. After the rescue of the crew, the catamaran yacht was taken alongside by the tug "SAR Mastelero" (IMO: 9525730) which had been deployed from Carucha. With the intervention of divers the of the BEC Cartagena the half sunk ship could be secured and towed to Águilas alongside the tug.
