Brigantine distressed off Tenerife
On July 26, 2017, the "Jean de La Lune" issued a distress signal on the Atlantic about 90 miles North of Tenerife. The brigantine had suffered water ingress and requested additional pump capacity and towing. There was a crew of eight on board. Salvamento Maritimo deployed the Helimer 207 helicopter with an additional pump which was dropped off on the ship which enabled the crew to gain control of the water ingress. The SAR ship "Punta Salinas" (IMO: 7931894) was sent from Santa Cruz de Tenerife at 1.30 p.m. and took the ship in tow to the port.
