Lifeboat went adrift in storm
On Mar 9, 2016 at 08:30 a.m. the CROSS Corsen was alerted by the lifeboat station Molene after the "Jean Cam" broke its mooring at night in a storm. The CROSS started a search operations which was hampered by bad sea conditions so that no boats of other stations of the SNSM could participate. A Cayman helicopter of the Navy base Lanvéoc took off at 10:01 a.m. and located the boat at 10:45 a.m. at the south-western tip eight miles of St. Matthew, drifting south. It was then decided to dispatch the emergency tug "Abeille Bourbon" from its mooring at Ushant to track the drift of the boat. At 11:50 a.m., the tug reached the "Jean Cam", and two salvors boarded the boat for an initial investigations. At 12:37, two crew members of the crew of the boat were airlifted by helicopter onto the "Abeille Bourbon" and transferred onto the lifeboat to verify its integrity and its maneuverability. As it was found to be able to navigate independently, it headed to the Moulin Blanc marina in Brest for further checks, and the "Abeille Bourbon" returned to the position off Ushant.
