Jana sailing again
The damage of the "Jana" after her collision with the "Herm Kiepe" on the Kiel Canal was repaired in Bremerhaven until Sep 5.The following day the ship headed for Hamburg and is actually running eastbound in the Kiel Canal again.
Jana sailed to Bremerhaven
The "Jana" departed from Brunsbuettel-Ostermoor in the afternoon of Aug 25, 2011, at 2 p.m. Investigations had showed that the rudder gear of the ship had sent faulty information causing the helmsman to change course to avoid a grounding. The ship subsequently ran before the bow of the approaching cargo ship. The bulwark on the foreship was dented and the wheelhouse damaged severely and parts torn out of it. The ship had a stopover at Cuxhaven Helgoland-Quay before proceeding in the early morning of Aug 26 to Bremerhaven where it moored at the fishing harbour at 8.30 a.m.

The "Jana“ suffered a rudder failure on Aug 24, 2011, at 4 p.m. on the Kiel Canal at km 55,5 near Schülp and ran into the container m/v "Herm Kiepe" near the airport Schachtholm. The "Jana“ which was not in need of a pilot carried 1000 tons bio diesel and was enrote from Rostock to Brunsbüttel. The ship suffered considerable damage and berthed in Brunsbuettel-Ostermoor in the night of Aug 25 at 8.50 p.m. The "Herm Kiepe“ was able to continue its voyage to Aarhus with only slight damage and berthed at the local container terminal on Aug 25 at 10.30 a.m.
