Jade Hiev refitted as barge
The "Jade Hiev" is getting rebuilt after the collapse of its boom which was meanwhile removed. The ship is being converted to a self propelled barge by the Jade-Dienst allowing the use of cranes with a lifting capacity of upt to 400 tons in the future. The new deck layout will offer several opportunities to use the ship for construction works on the water. Crane boom collapse injured three
In the inner port of Wilhelmshaven the jib of the "Jade Hiev" collapsed on Feb 16, 2017, at 9.20 a.m. Nine workers were setting up the crane boom when the crane jib crashed onto the deck of the floating crane by yet unknown reasons. Three 30- to 50-year-old employees on board were slightly injured and taken to hospital. The staff members were busy assembling the jib when it suddenly broke loose and crashed onto the deck. The police launched an investigation into the accident.
