Crew member suffered life threatening injuries in fall

A crew member of the 'J.C. Bazan' had to be hospitalized in serious condition after falling from the deck at the loading dock of Puerto La Plata in the city of Ensenada on Feb 5, 2023. The 38-year-old victim is the boatswain of the tanker. He hit his head and had to be transferred in a SAME ambulance to the Cestino hospital, where he was treated in the shock room, he was intubated and then transferred to the intensive care in life threatening conditon. A criminal case was opened at the First Ensenada police station.

Pilot died on board

In the morning of March 2, 2021,at 4.10 a.m. the pilot from Rio, who was on board the 'JC Bazan', suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest in the San Lorenzo port. The crew requested medical help from the emergency center and gave notice to the Argentine Naval Prefecture. He was attended by the medical staff, who after 45 minutes of intense work diagnosed “Death due to cardiorespiratory arrest”. The prosecutor in charge in San Lorenzo acted on the death and ordered the transfer to the Medical Legal Institute. The tanker was destined for Buenos Aires with an ETA as of March 3, which will be delayed after the tragic event occurred.
