Barge salvaged after 45 days
After having stuck on the Danube near Irlbach for 45 days, the "Izza" was refloated by the SS "Mayon" on May 11. the ship berthed in Deggendorf at 3.40 p.m. before proceeding to Passau where it arrived at 8 p.m. On May 12 at 1.15 p.m. it finally sailed and headed to Braila, ETA May 21.
Grounding on the Danube
In the foremidday of Mach 27, 2019, the "Izza", 2593 ts (EU-No.: 05111630), ran aground on the Danube near Irlbach in the Straubing-Bogen municiality. The ship with a barge was underway from Straubing to Corabia when the rudder gear failed and the vessels got stuck on a gravel bar. First investigations showed no damage, and the ships did not hamper passing traffic as they were outside the fairway. First the rudder is to be repaired by a contracted company, which was yet to be found, before refloating attempts will started.
