Dense smoke hampered firefighters

Wed Dec 04 12:02:24 CET 2024 Timsen

After a fire broke out aboard the 'Izar Argia' at the Nodosa shipyard in Marín on Nov 3 at 10.45 a.m., the emergency services needed several hours to control and put out the fire, which was concentrated in a cargo hold, and everything was filled with smoke, which made work difficult. The Provincial Fire Consortium of Pontevedra was notified and, from there, the extinguishing teams of O Morrazo and Ribadumia (Vilagarcía park) were mobilized. The National Police, Local Police and Civil Protection of Marín were also notified. The fire could have been caused by a welding spark that ignited the insulation of the hold. Given the lack of visibility due to the accumulation of smoke, the firefighters were facing some difficulties, until they located the source of the fire. After putting it out, the ship's interior was ventilated. Report with photo: https://www.farodevigo.es/pontevedra/2024/12/04/fuego-humo-barco-astillero-obligan-112300845.html
