Pirates Boarded Tug BRITOIL 71 while towing Tanker and robbed crew.

On 10-OCT-2011 at 03:35 LT (19:35 UTC Oct 9), the Singapore Flag, 1032 GRT, 47m LOA, Tug BRITOIL 71 was boarded by pirates while towing the SG Flag Tanker TITAN VISION in position 01 02 48 N, 103 38 18 E, 3nm SW of Racon D in the Phillip Channel, and 7nm NW of the coast of Belakang Padang, Indonesia on bearing 099. Five armed, masked pirates boarded the Tug and threatened the crew with machetes and a handgun during the 10 minute incident. The pirates stole cash, cell phones and a laptop computer from the crew before fleeing. None of the fifteen crew on board the BRITOIL 71 were injured. The Master reported the incident to Singapore's Port Operations Control Center (POCC).
