Collision on Panama Canal

The "Iolaos" contacted with its port side the bulk carrier "SE Nicky" which was hit at starboard side on March 11, 2019, off the Pedro Miguel Lock in the Panama Canal. Both ships were transiting the waterway in northern direction towards the Atlantic and suffered slight damages. They completed the transit and moored on Colon Anchorage for damage assessment and investigations. The "Iolas" had arrived from Chile and continued to Boston on March 13 at 12.10 a.m, ETA March 21. The "SE Nicky" was en route from Mexico to Mobile and remained moored in pos- 09° 22.11' N 079° 55.82 W off Colon on March 13. Ship traffic in the canal was not affected.
