Wan Hai takes 1,700 teu ship for $10.4m
Nissen Kaiun of Japan has sold Wan Hai Lines a nine-year-old 1,700 teu ship. Wan Hai is paying $10.4m for the Imabari-built IS Japan, brokers tell Splash. Nissen Kaiun has been paring back its diverse fleet all year.
Little hope for missing officer
An Indian crew member of the "TS Japan" sailing in South China Sea hase gone missing near Hong Kong on October 31, 2011. He was working as a third officer on board. The ship had sailed from Shekou Port in China and was heading towards Laem Chabang Port in Thailand. The Hong Kong coast guard conducted search operation with aircraft and other ships in the sea to locate the missing sailor but did not succeed. The man from Manacaradu had joined the ship only 15 days back. He was on duty until 4 p.m. October 31 and was expected to get back to duty at 8 p.m., search operations were on since he was not found. The ship has reached Bangkog on Nov 5.
