Thu Jan 19 13:12:25 CET 2023 Timsen

A Bangladeshi boy has been rescued from an empty container which reached Port Klang aboard the 'Integra' on Jan 15, 2023, which had left Chattogram Port on Jan 12. The boy, aged around 15 ,was undergoing treatment at a local hospital in the port city under police guard. Initial suspicions of human trafficking were cleared after a cursory investigation by the police. The young man stated that he and his friends were playing in empty containers when he fell asleep in one of the containers, and when he woke up, the door was locked. The empty container was loaded onto the 'Integra'. Unloading on Jan 17. The boy hadspent dive days locked the a container. A dock worker found him when he heard a knock while inspecting containers being unloaded from the vessel. The boy was in a weakened but sane state. He was questioned by the police and examined by a medical team. The boy was fed, given a change of clothes, and then taken to the hospital. The case has been referred to the Malaysian government's immigration department and the boy will be sent home on the same container ship he arrived on.
