Barge blocked Main at Marktheidenfeld

Thu Dec 28 11:41:37 CET 2017 Timsen

On Dec 27, 2017, at 10.53 p.m. the "Inn", 2261 ts (EU-No.: 04800410), coming from the Danube with along with a pushed barge, suffered engine damage on the Main at Marktheidenfeld at river km 178,5 and got perpendicular to the fairway, blocking the ship traffic since. Two river cruise ships were directed to Marktheidenfeld and Neustadt. The ice breaker "von Pechmann“ (MMSI-No.: :211661060) of the river authority was sent to the grounding site to support the salvage. The barge "Nepomuk" (MMSI-No.: 211169620) which was underway downstream with two barges from Wüerzburg to Antwerp, was mobilized to pull the "Inn" off but first had to moor the barges in Rothenfels. She was expected on site around 4 p.m. The "Inn" was carrying a cargo of 3.500 tons rape.
