Cargo ship disabled in Bosphorus
The 'River Elbe', enroute from Novorossyisk to Dover, suffered an engine malfunction while she was transiting the Bosphorus on April 1, 2021, at 10.45 a.m. and started to drift. The teams of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety were dispatched to the ship that had been stoppen by an emergency anchoring manoever only one meter from the mansions at the shore near Yeniköy. The tug 'Kurtarma 8' and the lifeboat 'Kıyı Emniyeti 5' assisted the vessel, a pilot was dropped off on board, and it was towed to the Ahırkapı' anchorage for investigations and repairs. Serious concerns for seaworthiness in Leith
The "River Elbe", en route from Ceuta to Leith, was attended by a Coastguard team along with coastal officers to ensure the safety of the vessel. An MCA surveyor attended to inspect the vessel on Nov 5, 2018, after serious concerns for its seaworthiness were raised in position 55 58.89 N, 003 10.10W, in Leith at 07.50 a.m. All were confirmed well on board.
