Significant drug find on bulk carrer

The South Australia Police (SAPol) started investigating a significant amount of cocaine found on board the 'ICS Silver Spirit', enroute from Port of Burnie, which docked at Port Pirie on Nov 13, 2023. The crew of the vessel had contacted Port Pirie police to report suspicious packages found aboard. The police, accompanied by te Australian Border Force, found 23 kilograms of suspected cocaine. Mmbers of the vessel's crew were assisting the police with enquires. The street value of the drugs would be in excess of 8 million US dollars. Detectives from Serious and Organized Crime Branch were leading the investigation, assisted by local police, SAPOL Water Operations, Australian Border Force and Australian Federal Police. Investigations continued into the source of the cocaine and how it came to be on board the vessel. The police had a number of active lines of enquiry, but no charges have been made. The 'ICS Silver Spirit' let Port Pirie again on Nov 17.

Bulk carrier released after thorough search

The Gibraltar Police confirmed the release of the 'Sider Venture', after it has been the subject of an interdepartmental operation in the waters of Peñón. The ship was stopped and boarded on Sep 15, 2020, as it entered in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters after setting sail from Colombia a fortnight ago. It was boarded by armed officers, who were assisted by officers from HM Customs, Gibraltar Defence Police and the Gibraltar Port Authority in the search. Fot two days a search has been carried out, but no illicit has been found, so the ship has been released.

Dead stowaway found during unloading operations

A dead stowaway was found aboard the "Sian C" after the ship entered the port of Philadelphia on May 7, 2015. The body was found when sacks with cacao were unloaded by port workers. The ship had come from the Ivory coast. The police tried to investigate the identiy of the man.
