Skipper of gillnetter saved off Portsall

On Nov 17, 2019 at 4:30, p.m. the skipper of the "Kebelle II" abandoned his ship to a life raft off Portsall and alerted the CROSS Corsen. He fired distress flares to signal his position. The CROSS immediately broadcasted a Mayday Relay and deployed a Dragon 29 helicopter of the Civil Security, the SNSM boat "La Portsallaise" from Portsallaise and the semi-rigid '504' as well as a rescue vehicle and athe firefighters. At 5:10, p.m. the man was recovered by the SNSM zodiac and returned safely to shore where he was supported by firefighters and transported to the hospital Cavale Blanche in Brest. The SNSM boat meanwhile towed the gillnetter to the port of Saint Pabu in NNE winds of force 4.
