Carcass of whale stuck on bow

Wed Aug 31 10:02:00 CEST 2011 Timsen

The "Hyundai Faith" entered the port of Rotterdam on Aug 30, 2011, with the carcass of a dead whale on its bulbous bow. The patrol boat "RPA 11" pushed the cadaver against the quay, near the DDE/DDW Container Terminal Amazonport at berth No.: 8153 in the Europoort. The animal was to be towed to a place where it would not interere shipping. The whale seems to have been an adult orca, but this has not yet been confirmed by experts. A team of Naturalis in Leiden is involved in the further recovery of the carcass. The cadaver is probably to be taken to the Naturalis Museum in Leiden.
