Bulkcarrier continued voyage after collision due to safety fears
The "Highnya" obviously collided with North Korean fishing vessel in the Japan Sea on its voyage from Russian to Taiwan. The fishermen saw the bulk carrier name and reported it to the local authorities. The local authorities started an investigation into the cause of the accident and will detain the ship for further evidence collection. According to the bulk carrier crew, the duty officer saw the fishing ship in the last moment and maneuvered to avoid a collision, but the fishermen also maneuvered and crossed the route of the cargo vessel. The bulkcarrier reduced the speed and ensured that the fishing ship was afloat and resumed the voyage. The vessel did not stop at the scene, due to fear for the safety of the crew in relation with political relations between North and South Korea.
