Serious allision in Teesport
The "Cape Mathilde" was hit by the portside bow of the "Gülnak" on Apr 18, 2019, which was, upon its arrival from Ravenna at Teesport, manoevering to her berth at the Redcar Bulk Terminal on the River Tees, being under tow by tugs, in position 54 37.52 N, 001 09 23 W, in The "Gülnak" suffered a 16 metre long fracture at port side with its anchor left in one of her hatches and a smashed forecastle. The "Cape Mathilde" suffered severe portside hull damages above the waterline with several breaches of some meters length and width in the area of the cargo holds and the main deck. The ship had arrived at Teesport on April 6, coming from Rotterdam. The "Gülnak" left the port again on April 29 at 11.40 a.m. and berthed at the Besiktas Shipyard in Altinova on May 12 at 8 p.m. The "Cape Mathilde" left Teesport on May 8 and headed to Dunkirk, where she berthed for repairs on May 10 at 7.30 a.m. at the Quay de Douvres.
