Crew members contracted coronavirus

A 55-year old Filipino crew member and the 59-year old Chief Engineer of the 'Heroic' were contracted with Covid 19. The Filipino crew died in his cabin, the Chief Engineer was airlifted to hospital. Immediately after its arrival at Kaloi Limenes, the ship was boarded by medics, and samples were taken. Nine of the 19 crew were tested positive for the coronavirus.

One crew member dead, another medevaced

Since April 16, 2021, the crew of the 'Heroic' encountered multiple health problems, including one death and one medevac. The bulk carrier arrived at the ancorage of Kaloi Limenes in the morning of April 18, coming from Sokhna, Egypt, via Suez. While under way in the Mediterranean Sea, several crew members had suffered health problems in the period of April 16-17. One crew member died, another one, the 59-year old Chief Engineer, was in need of immediate medical assistance. He was hoisted by a helicopter of the Gree Air Force and transported tothe helipad of the General Hospital of Rhodes on April 17. An ambulance took him to the hospital from there. Other seafarers of the ship were facing health problems too. A preliminary investigation is carried out by the Central Port Authority of Rhodes.
