MCA contracts tug Herakles as emergency tug for northern scottish coasts

Fri Jul 06 09:43:55 CEST 2012 arnekiel

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has contracted a Maltese-flagged tug called Herakles, an emergency towing vessel (ETV) described as ‘a specialist anchor handling and towing vessel’, to provide cover for the Western Isles, Shetland and Scotland’s north west coast from a port on Orkney. Orkney Islands Council has welcomed the news. In fact, Herakles is a tug very familiar to Orkney, Shetland and the water of the north and north west – as Anglian Prince. HERAKLE 7725805

Fri Nov 05 10:06:33 CET 2010 Timsen

During the salvage operation of the submarine HMS "Astute" off Skye on Oct 22, the "Anglian Prince" collided with the boat damaging to the submarine’s starboard foreplane. The towing rope had got entangled in the tug's propeller causing it to be pulled against the submarine, causing considerable damage.
