Medevac off Ocean City
The Coast Guard medevaced a 47-year-old man from the "Hellas Endurance" on May 23, 2013, approximately 60 miles east of Ocean City. The tanker contacted Coast Guard watchstanders at approximately 6:50 a.m. reporting a crewmember suffered a head injury and was in need of immediate medical attention. Watchstanders dispatched an aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City at 7:22 a.m. Due to low visibility caused by fog, the pilots used radar to locate the "Hellas Endurance". Once on scene at 8:02 a.m., the helicopter crew hoisted the patient. The aircrew's intention was to transport the injured man to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City. Due to fog, the Dolphin crew landed at Air Station Atlantic City at 9:20 a.m. where the patient was transferred to awaiting emergency medical services personnel.
