Allision in Husum

Fri Nov 02 15:07:50 CET 2018 Timsen

In the evening of Nov 1, 2018, the "Helene G" allided with the flood barrier when leaving the port of Husum. After the ship sailed at 6.40 pm. a technical malfunction caused a failure of the propeller control. The propeller changed its angle so that the ship took up speed instead of slowing down. The captain ordered an emergency anchoring, but the ship slammed into the barrier with its bow which was dented. Also the pump statioon suffered considerable damage. The "Helene G" returned to the Husum Shipyard where she had been berthed since Oct 18. She finally sailed on Nov 12 at 2.50 p.m., bound to Amsterdam, ETA Nov 14.
