Yacht with drugs intercepted off Ibiza

Mon Aug 20 18:22:00 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "HCH-X" was intercepted by a Spanish customs patrol boat in the morning of Aug 19, 2018, around 15 miles west of Ibiza due to the suspicion of drug trafficking. About 300 kilo of cocaine of 18 million Euro value were found, divided into two parts of 150 kilo each, and hidden inside the yacht’s interior and the master’s cabin. The five crew members were arrested, four of them being of Dutch and one of German nationality. The yacht was taken to Palma de Mallorca.. The bales with high quality cocaine were picked up by the yacht after they had been dropped off by a cargo ship before. An investigation was under way.

Yacht suffered water ingress off Cape Ortegal

Thu Dec 01 09:43:56 CET 2016 Timsen

The "HCH-X" suffered rudder damage and water ingress on Nov 28, 2016, around 39 miles off Cape Ortegal. The rudder was jammed to starboard side, and large amounts of water poured into the aft of the ship. The British crew of five alerted the Salvage Center in Fisterra which deployed the "Salvamar Shaula“ at 3.45 p.m. from the rescue station Cariño. She managed to take the yacht in tow and pulled the ship within 17 hours to Mallorca. On Nov 29 at 8.30 a.m. it was berthed at the pier in Cariñés where the crew removed the water with the bilge pump before starting with repairs.
