Cargo ship refloated

Sun Jan 19 15:07:31 CET 2014 Timsen

The "Citadel" was refloated at Trebujena on Jan 19 and docked at Sevilla at 10 a.m. assisted by three tugs, and has approached the port of Sevilla. Since Jan 15 several ships dredged away sludge and sediments surrounding the vessel. Engineers determined the high tide at 4 a.m. to be the ideal time to complete the salvage operation which was carried out by Svitzer Salvage. Citadel on the shore

Fri Jan 17 19:21:07 CET 2014 Timsen

The "Citadel" ran aground on the shores of the Guadalquivir River due to intense fog in the early hours of Jan 12, 2014. The ship was underway from Porsgrunn to Seville and got stuck five miles from Trebujena (Cádiz ). The ship got stuck just 10 meters from the shore near the mouth of the River Guadalquivir in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The Seville harbor tugs have been working unsuccessfully on Jan 13 morning to get the ship which was loaded with a cargo of 5300 tons fertilizer off the ground. The salvage company Svitzer was contracted to refloat the ship now which was to take place on Jan 18 on the earliest, taking advantage of the high tide , with a chartered tug. Before, some dredging was to be carried out.
