Tanker devastated by explosion
On Nov 2, 2020, an explosion occurred on board the 'Harcourt' at a production facility in the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 40, near the Port of Koko on the River Benin. There was no deaths or injuries. However, there was significant damage to the marine storage vessel which will impact the production by about 10,000 barrels of oil per day. The incident involved the partners of the he Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), an upstream subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, the Elcrest Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited while carrying out production evacuation at Gbetiokun Early Production facility. The NNPC has commenced an investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident.
Sovcomflot tanker Tomsk collided with Turkish ro-ro Melissa K, Black Sea
Sovcomflot tanker Tomsk in the morning of April 28 2012 collided with Turkish ro-ro Melissa K off Tuapse, Black sea. There was restricted visibility due to heavy fog. Melissa K was leaving Tuapse as scheduled for Samsun, Turkey. Melissa K suffered damages and returned to port, where she was berthed. Tomsk was anchored at Tuapse road for investigation and survey.
