Sold for scrapping
Diana Containerships has signed an agreement to sell its panamax boxship Hanjin Malta to an unnamed buyer for around $5.04m, minus commission. Earlier this week, brokers reported the 19,007-ldt vessel sold to Indian buyers for demolition at a price of $265/ldt. Diana bought the vessel for $22m in February 2013 from Hanjin Shipping, to whom the ship was timechartered back for 36 to 38 months at a gross rate of $25,550 per day. The minimum scheduled period of the charter terminated this month. The sale will reduce Diana Containerships’s fleet to 13 vessels, comprising six post-panamax and seven panamax boxships.
