Additional vessel allows direct shipping connectivity - 'Baltic Strait' makes inaugural call at Bintulu

Thu Apr 25 14:24:08 CEST 2013 arnekiel

The launch of China Philippine Malaysia (CPM) Service by Evergreen Marine Corporation (EMC) complements the existing direct shipping service provided by Taiwan Philippine Indonesia (TPI) Service from Bintulu International Container Terminal (BICT), Bintulu Port to several major ports within Intra Asia Trade routes, said Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd (BPSB) chief executive officer Datuk Mior Ahmad Baiti Mior Lub Ahmad. EMC’s container vessel, MV Baltic Strait, made an inaugural call at BICT on April 23 to mark the start of its new direct shipping service. Mior said the addition of a new vessel would provide more direct shipping connectivity and extra space for cargo. “This in turn gives extra options for shippers here to select main line operators for the logistic arrangements of their cargoes,” he said. He pointed out that the selection of Bintulu Port by EMC for this service signified the company’s confidence in Bintulu Port’s operational performance.
