Four Chinese crew members were injured after a pirate attack on the "Anzejiang" in the Apapa port in the evening of May 16. The four injured, including the captain, were receiving treatment in Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria. Doctors said they are all in stable condition. The "Anzejiang", which belonged to the China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company, was attacked about 8:30 p.m. by 15 pirates in two speed boats when it berthed outside the Apapa port in Lagos. The pirates robbed 8,000 yuan (1,173 U.S. dollars). There were 28 crew on board when the attack happened. They used beer bottles, woodblocks and fire-fighting water to fight with the pirates, who were armed with rifles and AK-47. When the pirates were smashing the door of the crew dormitory with gunstocks where most of the people were hiding to avoid casualties a whistle blew, and they fled at about 10 p.m.
