Bulkcarrier rescued crew of capsized vessel

On June 27, 2020, the 'Guo Yuan 28', enroute from Santos to Zhanjiang, rescued six crew members of the Indoesian 'KM Sidik' which had capsized in the Natuna Sea at 3 a.m. in a storm after the pumps failed. The castaways were handed over to an Indonesian rescue vessel. The 'Guo Yuan 28' was passing by the scene when the shipwreck took place in the waters off Seraya Island and retrieved seven Indonesian sailors, six of them were alive and one died. The 'KM Sidik' had sailed from the Tanjung sea port of Natuna, a district in Indonesia's Riau Islands province bound for West Kalimantan province's capital of Pontianak. All victims were rushed to a nearby hospital in Natuna and the COVID-19 Task Force in the district.
