Immediate action for reserve lifeboat

Short after the lifeboat "Jan en Titia Visser" left Eemshaven enroute to a yardstay at Kuipers in Woudsend, the reserve lifeboat "Dorus Rijkers" was called to assist the "Groninger" on Mar 29, 2014, at 12.30 p.m. The Coastguard Centre in Den Helder alerted the lifeboat after the charter sailing ship which had sailed from Emden on Mar 28 with 23 people aboard had reported engine problems in the Doekegat near buoy 32. The "Groninger" was just one nautical mile off the piers of the Eemshaven. The "Dorus Rijkers" was on scene within 10 minutes and managed to establish a towing connection.
