Container ship rescued 29 migrants

Tue Jun 20 13:12:01 CEST 2023 Timsen

The 'Greta', en route from Las Palmas, has rescued 29 people who had been in distress in Malta’s waters for nearly 24 hours, after Malta ordered another merchant vessel not to rescue them. A boat carrying 29 people had asked for assistance. Malta’s RCC had ordered the merchant vessel ÄSkyline S', which was nearby, not to rescue them. They were then pulled aboard the 'Greta' which berthed in Puerto del Rosario on June 20, 2023.

Containers looted by perpetrators

Tue Mar 09 09:57:07 CET 2021 Timsen

In the evening of March 6, 2021, the 'Pacora', en route from Guayaquil to Balboa, was boarded by armed robbers while passing buoy 66, shortly after the guards had disembarked. The perpetrators stayed on board for about 40 minutes, broke in nine containers, apparently knowing what containers to open. They also seized a crew member who was in bow area, taking from him phone and radio. They left the ship near buoy 52, loading two boats with looted goods. The ship continued its voyage with an ETA as of March 9, the crew was safe. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxSQsdso218&feature=emb_title
