Medevac off Dwarskersbos
On Dec 18, 2017, at 3.06 p.m. the SA Air Force (SAAF) 22 Squadron, WC Government Health EMS and NSRI ASR were activated to medevac a 36 year old Chinese crewman suffering an injured hand on the "Great Sui" which was moored at anchor off Veldrift. At 4 p.m. an SAAF 22 Squadron Oryx helicopter accompanied by an EMS rescue paramedic and 2 NSRI ASR rescue swimmers departed from the Air Force Base Ysterplaat (AFB Ysterplaat). The NSRI Melkbosstrand, Yzerfontein and Mykonos were placed on alert and Telkom Maritime Radio Services assisted with communications. The helicopter rendezvoused with the ship north of Dwarskersbos, in a 30 knot gusting wind and rolling sea conditions, where it landed onboard the ship and the patient, in the care of the EMS rescue paramedic, was brought aboard the helicopter and airlifted to AFB Ysterplaat where an EMS ambulance crew took over care of the patient and transported the patient to hospital in a stable condition. The operation was completed at 5.50 p.m.

Sinotrans Shipping will buy two capesize bulkers at a total price of $98.5m, and at the same time terminated a vessel lease agreement due to payment default by the charterer. Sinotrans has agreed to purchase sister vessels ER Beilun and ER Brazil from Germany’s ER Schiffahrt. The ships are of 178,978 dwt in capacity each
