Disabled ship towed to Busan
The "Granit" suffered an engine failure on July 17, 2019, at 6 a.m. 16 miles off Ulsan, being en route from Busan to Vladivostok with 1.436 tons of general cargo on board. The ship was taken in tow at 1 p.m. by a Korean tug and towed back to Busan, where it was berthed on July 18 at 4.20 a.m. The cargo ship sailed again on Aug 28 short past midnight and resumed the voyage to Vladivostok with an ETA as of Aug 31.
Cargo ship adrift off Hokkaido
The "Granit" lost propulsion power and went adrift in Sea of Japan near Hokkaido island en route from Petropavlovsk to Kozmino with 1040 tons of general cargo and empty containers. The power loss occurred in moderate weather with east winds of 12-15 m/s and 1,5-meter waves. The engineers could not repair the engine and requested assistance. The salvage tug "Neftegaz-55" was deployed from Vladivostok to assist and started towing of the ship to port, ETA Dec 27, 2016. Currently the convoy was underway with a speed of 5,7 knots.
