Four tugs at grounding site
On Nov 15, the 'Thomas C' was still aground in pos. 33 53 17 S, 58 40 8 W. The bulkcarrier, loaded with 31,000 tonnes of slag, ran aground at the 161-kilometre mark on the Paraná de las Palmas River, during inbound navigation to its discharging destination, the New Port berth in the port of San Nicolas, on Nov 8 at 5.30 p.m. The vessel was not obstructing vessel traffic in the area. The tugs 'Brutus' (MMSI: 701006670), 'Emma B' (IMO: 9760938), 'Querandi' (IMO: 9721255) and 'Ranquel' (IMO: 9688702), were currently assisting the casualty. On Nov 18 the 'Thomas C' was refloated at 9.25 p.m. A routine inspection of the vessel is being carried out at the kilometre mark 208 of the Parana Guazu River. On Nov 20 at 12.45 p.m. the ship berthed in San Nicolas de Los Arroyos.
Grounding on Paraná river
The 'Thomas C' ran aground at kilometre mark 160 on the Paraná river on Nov 9, 2019, at 8.20 p.m.. The ship was proceeding upstream from Ponta Ubu to San Nicolas at that time. It was stuck in pos. 33° 53.28' N 058° 40.13' W. The vessel was joined by the tug 'Coopor Estibador I' (IMO: 9769362).
