Ferry refit delayed
The "Graemsay" was expected to be out of service for longer than expected. The ferry was docked in Peterhead since Mar 29, 2015, to have new engines fitted. While the two engines have arrived, the gear boxes were not included as part of the delivery. The Orkney Islands Council Marine Services was in urgent discussion with the key suppliers and is asking for the gear boxes to be delivered as soon as possible. There was no clear date yet for when the gear boxes would arrive. The "Graemsay" was due to return to service during the second week in May. A delay beyond this now looked likely. In the meantime, the "Golden Mariana" operated the Graemsay to Hoy service, with the Flamborough Light carrying out a cargo run on a Tuesdays at 1 p.m. The Westray to Papa Westray service was operated by the "Kirkwall Bay" from May 3 on. Up to 10 passengers could be carried on each run.
