Tanker grounded in Suez Canal

Wed Feb 01 20:46:29 CET 2023 Timsen

On Feb 1, 2023, the 'Grace Emilia' suffered a rudder malfunction and ran aground during the northbound transit of the Suez Canal at kilometer 125 in the Little Bitter Lake, while en route from Dabhol. Traffic through the waterway was unaffected by the accident. The ship was stuck for more than three hours in a southern section of the canal where a second channel allowed ships to bypass the blockage. four canal tugs managed to refloat the LNG tanker and push it to the side.
