Bulkcarrier fined after control

Thu Dec 26 20:37:29 CET 2019 Timsen

On Dec 23, 2019, at 10 a.m. officers of the Brunsbüttel water police carried out a control aboard the 'Orange River' and found some defects. After consultation with the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, they initiated an administrative offense procedure and provided a security deposit. During the MARPOL and ballast water control they found that the officer in charge had not kept a ballast water diary for over two months. The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency initiated an administrative offense procedure and set a security deposit of 500 Euros. Furthermore, the crew had not given any rubbish to shore for over two months. The port authority found that there were more than 15 cubic meters of waste on board and ordered a compulsory disposal in the port of Brunsbüttel. On Dec 24 at 10.40 a.m. the ship continued its voyage from Cuxhaven to Huelva with an ETA as of Dec 29.
