Work boats involved in rescue operation

On Nov 16, 2020, the "Sølvfisken" and "Godfisken" were involvend in a rescue operation after a car with two people ended up in the sea at Kalvåg in Bremanger. The car met another vehicle and backed off the narrow cliff road, ending up in the sea. One of the two died in the car wreck. The driver was able to escape and swam to shore. The police was notified at 11.21 a.m. The car was lying at a depth of ten meters, but was hoisted up by the 'Godfisken' with its crane 40 minutes after the accident. Police, ambulance, a rescue boat, divers from the fire service, ambulance helicopter and a rescue helicopter were mobilized. The two men were flown to hospital after they were first taken care of by health personnel on land. One of them has flown to the Førde hospital with slight injuries. The other had been under water for over 40 minutes, when the car was picked up with a crane at 12.04 p.m. The man was given life-saving first aid on the spot and was transported to Haukeland by helicopter where he was declared dead.
