Offshore vessel in distress
The "Allure G" got into trouble in the morning of Jan 3, 2012, off the coast of Callantsoog. The Coast Guard assisted the crew of 10 after the ship had suffered engine problems and was about eight hours adrift and four kilometers off the Dutch coast near the approach buoy in Schulpengat Helder. Several attempts by the tug "Vanguard" to get connected to the casualty failed. The Coast Guard then sent out the emergency tug "Ievoli Black" and the lifeboat "Joke Dijkstra" of the KNRM-station Den Helder. The ship was then anchoring in severe seas 3,5 kilometres off the coast. The "Ievoli Black" had too much draught to get to the vessel which was moored at a water depth of four metres. The tug remained with the ship until, about twelve hours after the trouble started, the ship finally was taken in tow by the "Vanguard" at 1.40 p.m. The ship was then towed to Den Helder.
