Oil spill after collision
The Vietnamese authorities have still not found an explanation for the collision on the Long Tau River, near Ho Chi Minh City, after which the' Gkengyle' has partially sunk, but no one has been injured. The bulk carrier was loaded with gypsum. The water ingress occurred in the engine room, while the cargo was unharmed. In connection with the collision, a large amount of fuel has spilled into the river, and the authorities are currently trying to contain the pollution as best as possible.

On day two of the collision, the authorities were still planing for an alternative of how to separate and move the two ships to nearest thd port. They remained in pos. 10° 33' N 106° 51' E. Bulk carrier almost split in half in collision
Late on April 25, 2025, af 10.40 p.m., the containership 'KMTC Surabaya' (IMO: 9821081) was in collision with the 'Glengyle' at lamp post 15 on the Long Tau River in the An Thoi Dong commune, 200 metres from the Rach Don intersection, Ho Chi Minh. The container ship's bow was damaged, and the bulk carrier was almost split in half at port side, causing it to sink partially and creating an oil spill.
