Fire on tank barge
In the evening of Dec 4, 2019, insulation material caught fire aboard the 'Manugsta' ex 'Giessenstrom', 3200 ts (EU-No.: 02323578), on the slip of the shipyard at the Herbekest. in Hemiksom upon Scheldt. Severel units of the fire brigade and a tank truck were on site to tackle the fire. One person was medically treated for smoke inhalation but did not have to be hospitalized. Tank barge grounded on Rhine
On Jan 24, 2014, the "Giessenstroom" ran aground on the Rhine at Birsfelden upstream of Basel. The ship which got stuck at 6.30 a.m. could be lightered and then refloated. It was carrying 2500 tons diesel fuel. No spills were reported.
