Collision off Algericas

Tue Nov 22 10:01:52 CET 2016 Timsen

In the early morning of Nov 19, 2016, the "UACC Shams", heading from El Ferrol to Algeciras, collided with the container ship "Celina Star" which was leaving the port bound to Livorno, in the Bay of Algeciras. The accident took place off the beach of Getares. Both vessels suffered damage, but anchored safely in Spanish waters. There were no reports of serious damage to either vessel, nor risk of fuel spillage. The tanker had a dented bulwark at the portside foreship, the boxship dents and bruises at the starboard side aft, both well above the water line. The Port Authority was in communication with its Algeciras counterpart throughout the operations. Both ships were remaining moored off Algericas for the time being. The collision was investigated by the Investigation Commission for Incidents and Incidents (Ciaim) of the Ministry of Public Works. Thu Jul 05 12:57:31 CEST 2012 Timsen

A man died aboard the "UACC Shams" after collapsing on board a vessel at Portland Port on July 2, 2012. Paramedics, police and the fire service were called to the port after the man collapsed on the cargo vessel. He was taken off the vessel in Portland Harbour and taken to the portside dock where he was treated by ambulance crews and declared dead. There were no suspicious circumstances and the coroner has been notified. The spokesman said an inquest into the death would not be held. Dorset Fire and Rescue were also on hand to assist in the transfer of the man from the vessel to the dock in the morning.
