Rottweil on scene commander in rescue effort for capsized fishermen

Fri Jul 17 10:53:47 CEST 2015 Timsen

On July 15, 2015, the "Rottweil" had the on scene command after a small fisher boat with two persons on board had capsized in the Schlei estuary. The ship had received a relayed Mayday call of the MRCC Bremen three miles off the accident site. A yacht saved one of the castaways, the other was found by the lifeboat "Wuppertal" of the DGzRS station Maasholm. Both men were taken to Maasholm and treated by paramedics. The lifeboat "Karl van Well" of the DGzRS station Damp towed the capsized boat bottom up to port.
