Two engineers tested positive
Two engineers aboard the 'Gerda Maersk' were tested positive for Covid-19 while the ship was enroute from Tanjung Pelepas, where it had sailed on May 9, to Yantian. The two 3rd party service engineers had boarded the vessel at the Suez Canal and were planned to disembark at Tanjung Pelepas after going through the test. However, due to local restrictions, the disembarkation was denied even before the results became available, and hence, the vessel sailed towards the next planned port Yantian with an ETA as of May 12. While enroute to the port, the test results were received indicating the two engineers were positive. The vessel was not allowed to berth in Yantian without sanitization and no crew would be allowed to disembark. The ship thereupon sailed back to Tanjung Pelepas and arrived at the Kukup anchorage in the morning of May 23 where it moored in pos. 01° 15.21' N 103° 27.72' E at 1.30 a.m.
